This printer doesn't seem to want to play nicely with CUPS. There's no exact driver match found and the recommended driver (MFC-7225N) doesn't seem to do the trick I also tried the next higher driver (MFC-7450) without success. The printer is online as far as the driver is concerned, when a job is submitted it goes into the queue and there appears to be some activity on the printer (you can hear it warm up as if it has something to print), but nothing ever prints and the print driver thinks it printed successfully. I'm still looking for a solution to this and will update this post if I find it. Seems like there ought to be a way to grab the printer definition from the OS X side (iirc, it also uses CUPS) and bring it over to Linux...
Update: I apparently didn't look very hard when I ran into this originally. Upon revisting the issue, the answer was found very quickly on Brother's own web site. In addition to using their drivers, you should follow their instructions re: installation as dependency problems will be encountered which can be ignored. Also, there is a page for scanner drivers as well. Well done, Brother!
